Juan Mata Even without a Premier League winners' medal, there are few who can match Juan Mata's trophy haul. The Manchester United midfielder has won the Champions League with Chelsea, the Europa League with United, as well as the World Cup and European Championship with Spain. There were, though, moments in his early career when his future in football looked like might pan out differently. He left home at 15 to join Real Madrid's academy. At 19, he left the Bernabeu to start again at Valencia. "To be honest, I was never expecting to be in a World Cup final, a Euro final, a Champions League final, a Europa League final," the 29-year-old told ESPN FC in an exclusive interview. "I've done much more than I dreamt and that's incredible. When I signed for Valencia, it wasn't the best moment of my football career because in the beginning I was not playing a lot. "But I remained calm and I knew that if I trained well and played as I k

Manchester United should drop Romelu Lukaku vs Watford despite him escaping ban

Romelu Lukaku Romelu Lukaku may have escaped a ban for kicking out at an opponent over the weekend, but he still shouldn’t play against Watford this week.  The Belgian striker appeared to let his frustration get to him on Saturday when he kicked Brighton’s Gaetan Bong twice.  Such an incident should perhaps have come as little surprise – his lack of goals has to be playing on his mind. Having started his Manchester United career on fire, he’s scored just once in his last 11 appearances for Manchester United . Coupled with the return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the pressure is mounting on the shoulders of the 24-year-old. Source : Metro See Also:

Man United Legends: 25 YEARS SINCE KING ERIC JOINED UNITED

Image
King Eric  Cantona It is 25 years to the day since Eric Cantona signed for Manchester United and proved the missing ingredient required to conquer English football. Alex Ferguson 's masterstroke in raiding fierce rivals Leeds United for their flamboyant forward solved a striking problem and transformed the Reds into the most powerful force in the land. As has been well documented, the move came about when Leeds chairman Bill Fotherby telephoned his opposite number Martin Edwards to make an enquiry regarding Denis Irwin's availability. It seemed a fanciful idea and Sir Alex dismissed it but asked about Cantona's situation. "I said absolutely no way and that it was impossible," recalled Fotherby. "But I obviously knew what [manager] Howard Wilkinson felt about him. I rang Martin back and said: 'I can't believe this but Howard is willing to let the boy go'." Sir Alex could not believe his luck and was like the cat who got the cr
